Elizabeth is a fourteen year resident of Del Norte County, having earned her Bachelor's degree in psychology at California State University at Northridge. Elizabeth has experience in multiple fields of healthcare including crisis counseling and human services. Elizabeth currently works as a Crisis Counselor where she provides crisis intervention, suicide prevention, information & referral, and supportive counseling to clients who are in emotional distress and/or seeking information about mental health services. Elizabeth has written a book on infertility and miscarriage, and started a 501(c)(3) organization with the mission of assisting families pursuing parenthood; through this, she has been able to educate others about the causes and interventions for infertility and infant loss as well as how best to support those who are struggling.
Elizabeth is a worship leader and loves music and enjoys singing and writing music on piano and guitar. Elizabeth is passionate about patient advocacy and believes that everyone deserves to have access to quality and affordable healthcare.
Michael Young was born in Sacramento, a life-time California resident, moved to Del Norte County with his young family in 1973. He has served as Crescent City’s City Manager, City Director of Public Works, Interim City Manager on two occasions, County Engineer and owned and managed his consulting civil engineering company for 20 years. For the past 25 years Mr. Young has volunteered with non-profit organizations to plan, design and construct humanitarian facilities, such as hospitals, medical clinics and orphanages, in numerous foreign countries. Elected in 2018, Mr. Young hopes to apply his abilities and experience to support and improve healthcare facilities and services in Del Norte County.
Dr. Caldwell was born and raised in Los Angeles. Before college graduation from the University of California, Berkeley, he spent one year hitch-hiking across Europe, the Middle East, and India. Dr. Caldwell and his wife Donna Sund met during their Family Practice training program, then moved with their daughter to Crescent City in 1984. Doctors Caldwell and Sund built Redwood Medical Offices in 1991, where they continue to operate Del Norte County’s largest Family Practice clinic. Their three children left the area to attend college, later returning to the community to build their own careers. Dr. Caldwell was named Business Person of the Year by the Crescent City Chamber of Commerce in 2011, and Healthcare Provider of the Year on numerous occasions.
Tonya Pearcey received her AA degree in Nursing from Shasta College and has been a Registered Nurse for 32 years. She gained experience in multiple fields of healthcare, specializing in Emergency and Intensive Care services. Patient advocacy and Healthcare availability in Del Norte is a major concern and focus for her, as she has spent more than half of her life in Crescent City and is where much of her family lives.
Tonya is currently serving her second term on the Republican Central Committee in Del Norte County. She has actively been involved in the children’s ministry at Redwoods Family Worship Center for the last 10 years and has three adult children. Her two youngest are stay at home parents living in Crescent City and her oldest lives in southern California and works in the Aerospace Industry after retiring from the US Marine Corps. She also has eight awesome grandchildren.
David Mason was born and raised in Southern California and moved to Del Norte in 2005 to be the County’s Code Enforcement Officer. He earned an AA degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Phoenix and had extensive training and experience in environmental health and vector control during his 25 years as a Code Enforcement Officer.
Prior to his career in Code Enforcement he worked in construction, specializing in hospitals and medical facilities. His community service includes working with his Church’s youth as a Scoutmaster and currently teaches Sunday School in Primary. He served as a foster parent/resource family for 7 years.
After retiring from code enforcement in 2017, he reactivated his contractor’s license and is the owner/operator of DDR Cleaning and Hauling.
Mr. Henion received his bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences, concentration in Human Physiology, with individual studies in Electron Microscopy. An attorney since 1980, he concentrates his practice in the areas of business, real property, litigation and governmental law. He presently serves as a City Attorney/City Prosecutor and was formerly Del Norte County Counsel.
He presently serves as Master of the Local Masonic Lodge and as Chair of the School District’s Bond Oversight Committee. His former community involvement includes membership on the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Commerce, Chair of Rural Human Services and President of the County Law Library Board of Trustees for twenty years. He has also been a member of the Rotary and Elks’ Clubs.
His spouse, Jennifer, develops online curriculum for retriever training. He has two children, Cameron, principal supervising civil engineer for CalFire and Karli, a Real Estate Broker. His free time is spent retriever training, SCUBA diving and he engages in underwater and other photography/videography.
